The book of Revelation takes another significant step forward in chapter 6 as the Lamb begins to open the seals of the book. With each seal, John is shown events that bring judgment and upheaval upon the earth. Revelation 6 introduces the four horsemen, followed by further judgments that demonstrate the seriousness of what is taking place.

In this episode of Standing in the Gap Podcast, Pastor Wayne Dinwiddie, Tyson Durr, and Brandon Christian continue their verse-by-verse study through Revelation chapter 6, examining the four horsemen and the events associated with the opening of the seals.

One of the first points emphasized in the discussion is that nothing happens until the Lamb opens the seals. The events of Revelation 6 are not outside of God's control. Even as the world experiences war, famine, death, and judgment, God remains sovereign over what is taking place. The chapter serves as a reminder that we may not always understand what God is doing, but we can still trust that He is in control.

The first horse John sees is a white horse, whose rider goes forth conquering and to conquer. The episode takes time to consider different interpretations of this rider and why the hosts do not believe the passage should simply be assumed to represent Christ or the spread of the Gospel.

The following horses bring increasingly serious consequences. The red horse is associated with war and the removal of peace from the earth. The black horse represents famine and scarcity, while the pale horse is followed by death and Hell. Together, these judgments paint a sobering picture of the events described in Revelation 6.

But the discussion does not remain focused solely on the coming judgments.

A major theme throughout the episode is how Christians should live in light of what Scripture says is coming. It can be easy to become so focused on prophecy, current events, wars, and everything happening around us that we forget the responsibility God has given us today.

The hosts discuss the temptation to become discouraged or simply sit back and wait for Christ's return. But even if the events described in Revelation are close, believers still have work to do. Christians are called to remain faithful, share the Gospel, and continue serving Christ rather than allowing fear to keep them from doing what God has called them to do.

The episode also considers the world's desire for peace and the danger of pursuing peace at the expense of truth. While peace itself is not wrong, believers should not allow the desire for peace and comfort to prevent them from standing for the Gospel.

Later in the discussion, the group turns to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 and the warning about deception and strong delusion. The conversation emphasizes the importance of responding to God's truth while the opportunity is available rather than assuming there will always be more time.

Ultimately, Revelation chapter 6 is not simply a chapter about frightening events to come. It is also a reminder of God's authority, Christ's sovereignty, and the importance of being ready.

As the hosts discuss near the end of the episode, believers should be praying for those who have not yet accepted Christ and looking for opportunities to reach the people around them. Sometimes that may mean simply living out our faith consistently enough that others can see that what we believe is real.

The message is simple: don't wait until the last minute.

While we have the opportunity, we should be doing the work God has given us, sharing the truth of His Word, and pointing others toward Christ.
